Contienen

Contienen was a neighborhood on the lower Pregel southern district of Königsberg ( Prussia). He lay west of Nasser garden and Haberberg and north of Ponarth toward Lagoon.

Name

The name has Curonian origin and describes the local situation: " on edge " ( edge ), " kantinis " ( square, rectangular ).

History

The district was significantly influenced by port facilities and sailing clubs. In 1907, the Union Foundry, Lokomotivfabrik & Shipyard Königsberg settled here. The shipyard in 1930 merged with the Schichau shipyard in Elbing. The Union Foundry was the largest machine factory in East Prussia. 1924, the District Contienen from the Gutsbezirk Contienen and the District United Karschau was formed. 1927 Contienen was incorporated into the municipality of Königsberg.

The free port with warehouses (across from Kosse ), the industrial port with group memory and storage tower and the timber port with the " Rhenaniastraße - Ossau - oil plants " and the " Jul.: In Contienen three major port incisions were Berger civil society. " To the direction Haff joined the timber port at the sailing club.

The Schichau shipyard was almost at Godrienen (Russian Laskino ).

The new ports came off the Hundegatt.
