Convulsion

Convulsions (convulsion ( Sg ) = med - fachspr for myoclonus, . Lat convellere, ., Tear ',' shake ') are in series repetitive tonic- clonic spasms of the muscles of the body, usually associated with a loss of consciousness. Triggers are synchronous discharge ( depolarization ) of nerve cells in the brain.

The term " convulsion " is outdated. The now common term is " tonic- clonic seizure ."
