Copel

Copel Companhia Paranaense de Energia, or is an energy company of Paraná in Brazil. The company is listed on the financial index IBOVESPA.

History

The company was founded on 26 October 1954 by Governor Bento Munhoz da Rocha Neto.

Generation and transmission of electric energy

The company produces and delivers energy to customers in Brazil. Currently (as of June 2012) Copel has an installed capacity of 4,552 MW, produced by 17 highly automated, remote controlled water power stations and a coal power plant. At the Rio Teles Pires in the north of the state of Mato Grosso is since 2011 the hydroelectric plant Colider with a capacity of 300 MW under construction, which will be operational in early 2015.
