Copper ( II) phosphate is a chemical compound selected from the group of phosphates. It is the copper salt of phosphoric acid.
Occurrence
In nature, basic variants come from copper phosphates in the form of minerals Cornetite, Pseudomalachit, Tagilit and Libethenit ago.
Production and representation
Copper ( II) phosphate can be obtained by reaction of copper (II ) oxide, copper ( II) hydroxide or copper (II ) carbonate can be prepared with phosphoric acid.
Furthermore, the synthesis is described of disodium hydrogen phosphate and copper sulfate:
Properties
Copper ( II) phosphate is a green blue and odorless solid, which is insoluble in water. It crystallizes as a trihydrate and having a triclinic crystal structure, which is isomorphic to the of Stranskiit.
Furthermore, a basic copper orthophosphate exists: Cu4 (OH ) 2 ( PO4 ) 2 forms dark green crystals and can be synthetically represented by prolonged soaking in hot water on copper phosphate. As anhydrate it occurs naturally in Libethenit, dihydrate in Tagilit.
Use
Copper ( II) phosphate is used as a pigment (copper blue).
