The Renauldkuckuck ( Carpococcyx renauldi ) is a Southeast Asian cuckoo.
Features
The 68 cm long Renauldkuckuck is a long-tailed bird with compact body. The plumage is mainly light gray colored, with a dark head, neck, tail and flight feathers. The unbefiederten visual fields are colored blue, with wide purple eyes rings and yellow eyes. The sharp beak is colored coral - red.
Occurrence
The Renauldkuckuck is a bottom dweller in moist forests with dense vegetation. It can be found in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Behavior
The bird feeds on various small animals. Among themselves keep the birds with shouts contact. The couple sing with hard, deep whistling a duet.
Reproduction
This cuckoo is not a brood parasite, but builds a cup nest of twigs and leaves in trees, occasionally on the ground.
Endangering
There are no population size estimates, the species is assessed as not at risk.
