Corcovado Volcano

The Corcovado is a 2300 meters high volcano in the Andes of Patagonia in South Chile. It lies opposite the island of Chiloe on named after him Corcovado Gulf. Nearby is the small town of Chaitén. The mountain is located in the very volcanically active region of the South American Cordilleras. Its last major eruption occurred in 1835.

The first ascent was on January 12, 1945 Gerhard Kress, Alfredo Gash and Hans Engels.
