Coripata

Coripata is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Coripata is the central place of the district ( bolivian: municipality ) in the Province of Nor Yungas Coripata. The village lies at an altitude of 1725 m on a plateau 650 meters above the Río Boopi, which flows north and empties into the Río Beni. Two kilometers west of Coripata rises a mountain ridge to a height of 2,150 m.

Geography

Coripata lies in the transition region between the Altiplano and Cordillera Real to the west and the foothills of the Amazon lowlands to the east. The climate of the region is a typical diurnal climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day be more pronounced than during all seasons.

The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see climate chart Coroico ) and has a distinct dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February. Coripata lies at a distance of 119 kilometers of road northeast of La Paz, the capital of the department.

From La Paz the paved highway Route 3 leads in a northeasterly direction 52 miles to Cotapata and from there another 35 miles to Coroico.
