The Tinzenhorn (Romansh Corn da Tinizong, in local idiom Surmiran Corn da Tinizung ) is a mountain east of Savognin and southwest of Filisur in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland with a height of 3,173 m. On Tinzenhorn fossilized footprints of dinosaurs have been found. He is a slender, boldly ascending pinnacle of almost gothic appearance, fall down the four walls in partially torn walls.
Location
The Tinzenhorn one of the Bergüner sticks, a subgroup of the Albula Alps. The Tinzenhorn separates the north from the south-west to the Albula valley located above stone. The summit is on the municipality of Filisur, however, the boundary of the municipality is to Tinizong - Rona just 191 m away.
Among the neighboring peaks of Tinzenhorns include the Piz Mitgel, the Piz Ela and the pizza Grossa.
At the foot of the Tinzenhorns often visited mountain lake located Lai Tigiel ( 2,462 m) and the pass digls Orgel ( 2'699 m ), with its pointed, narrow and partly perforated dolomite gendarmes, reminiscent of organ pipes of a church organ. Both Lai Tigiel, as well as the pass digls Orgels are easily accessible on a good and well- marked trail.
The mountain is located in the Parc Ela, opened in 2006 a 600 -square-kilometer nature park.
Valley is a Savognin and Tinizong in the above stone, and Filisur and Berguen in the Albula valley. The starting points are the Elahütte in solitary Val Spadlatscha and the achievable via a narrow alpine road Alp Plang la Curvanera.
Fossil finds
On Tinzenhorn fossilized footprints of dinosaurs have been found. The traces are from sauropods from the Triassic period when the rocks were still at sea level before 200-210 million years ago. The tracks are considered the oldest such evidence worldwide.
Routes to the summit
Common starting points are the Ela Hut and Plang la Curvanera. For the car park Plang Curvanera la ( 1,893 m above sea level. M. ) leads a small road from Savognin via Tussagn. The Alpstrasse of Tinizong in the Val d' Err to Penza is closed to the general motor vehicle traffic.
