Cornelia Molnar

Cornelia Molnar born Vaida (* November 26, 1983 in Târgu Mureş ) is a Croatian table tennis player. She participated in the 2004 Olympic Games and 2012.

Career

First international successes achieved Cornelia Molnar at youth tournaments. In 1997, she reached at the European Youth Championships ( cadets ) in a double with Luca Balas the final, a year later she won the doubles event with the same partner. In 2000 she became European Junior Champion in singles and mixed with Ohad Paniel, 2001 she won the Mixed with Constantin Cioti silver.

In adults, they took since 2003 (until 2013) part nine times at the World Championships, but never came here in the near medal ranks. 2003 and 2005, she was with the Croatian team second at the European Championships in 2010 and 2011, they remained without EM Medal.

In 2004 she qualified for participation in the single and doubles competition of the Olympic Games. In individual they failed in the first round at the Australian originating from China Jian -Fang Lay. In doubles with Tamara Boroš she came victories against Renáta Štrbíková / Vachova Alena (Czech Republic) and Csilla Bátorfi / Krisztina Tóth (Hungary ) into the quarter-finals, where they lost to the Korean double Bokrae Kim / Kim Kyungah.

In 2012 she took part in the Olympics again, this time only in the individual competition. This time she survived the first round by defeating the US-American Lily Zhang. In the second round she lost to Kim Jong from North Korea.

With the Hungarian club Budaőrsi SC Cornelia Molnar played in the 2010/11 season in the Super League and in the 2012/13 season in the Champions League.
