Cornet (organ stop)

The Cornet (French, English:. Cornet, Spanish: Corneta Name for zinc ) is an organ stop. It is a non- repeating, terzhaltige mixed Manual voice. The pedal mechanism is often also the tongue register Trumpet 2 ' or 1' as referred cornet.

The cornet is often only available to the treble section of the manual. The scale ranges from very far (France ) to principal- like ( Spain). In French organs it serves to reinforce the tongue registers in the high altitudes. Otherwise, the cornet is also used as a solo stops.

Possible explanations are:

Aufgebänkt called a cornet, which is situated behind the facade increased to make it sound more direct. This construction is common in French organs.

France

The cornet classical French organ have different names and uses:

  • The Grand Cornet in the main work is more mensuriert than the others. It is usually constructed from c1 (2 octaves) and is used primarily to strengthen the weakening in the treble tongues in Grand Jeux. At the bottom of this cornet is somewhat weaker intoned, so that the transition is smooth.
  • The Cornet in the positive is also used to support the reeds and is usually only built if any. It is similar to on the main work, but it is something close mensuriert total.
  • The Cornet de Récit is a solo register, which is located on the third or fourth Manual. It has a larger circumference (from F or G at least ) and is consistently strong intonation (ie in the bass than in the other works ).
  • The Cornet d' Écho resembles that of the Recit, it is in the Echo work or individually, usually in a wooden box so that the sound is muffled.

The above classification is valid for large organs. In small instruments usually is only a Cornet 8 ' 5f. the main plant (only treble ). In the second manual work, it is possible to compile a Kornettmischung from individual registers in the rule. This so-called Cornet decompose consists of Bourdon 8 ', Prestant 4', Nasard 22/3 ', fourth de Nasard ( fourth above the Nasard = 2') and Tierce (13/ 5 ').

Spain

In Spain, there are several variants.

Other variants

  • The Septimenkornett is a cornet with additional Septimenchor 11/7 '. It is usually performed 7-fold with 8 ' 4' 22 /3 ' 2' 13 /5 ' 11/3 ' 11/7 '.
  • The Echokornett is a mostly wenigchöriges cornet, which is housed in a box with or without a sill. Missing choirs to 8 'and 4' are then used as individual registers also included in the box. It is alternatively used with the cornet, in order to obtain an echo effect.

The decomposed cornet is no single register, but a term for at least three individual registers (22/ 3 ', 2 ' and 13 /5 ' ), which can form a cornet together within a plant.
