Corozal District

Corozal is the northernmost province ( District ) of the Central American state of Belize on the border with Mexico.

The provincial capital is Corozal, Other cities and towns are Chunox, Consejo, Little Belize, Louisville, Patchacan, Progresso, Sarteneja and Xaibe.

Excavations of Maya sites are located at Santa Rita Corozal, Louisville and Cerros.

The Corozal province has a total area of 1,860 square kilometers with a population of around 36,000 (calculated 2006).
