Corrective And Preventive Action

Corrective And Preventive Actions, abbreviation CAPA, is the term for a concept of quality management. The focus of CAPA is on the systematic investigation of discrepancies ( eg, failure and / or deviations) and the attempt to prevent the recurrence ( corrective action) or to prevent the occurrence in advance ( preventive action).

To ensure that corrective actions and preventive measures are effective, a systematic investigation of Ausfallvorkommnissen or deviations is essentially important. CAPA is one element of a comprehensive quality management system (QMS ).

CAPA is also part of GAMP ( Good Automated Manufacturing Practice), a standard set of rules for the validation of computerized systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
