Corriverton

Region

Corriverton is the easternmost town in Guyana. It is located in the province of East Berbice - Corentyne at the mouth of Corantijn into the Atlantic. Corriverton is an amalgamation of the former cities of Spring Lands and Skeldon. A ferry connects with the Corriverton lying on the opposite bank Surinamese border town of Nieuw Nickerie -.

Population

According to the Census of 2002 Corriverton has 11,574 inhabitants. The mixed population consists mainly of Hindus, Christians and Muslims, and the architecture of the city is also marked by its temples, churches and mosques.
