Corupá

Corupá is a small town in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. It has about 12,600 inhabitants and an area of approximately 477 km ². The height above sea level is given as 75 m.

The city lives mainly from tourism and agriculture, including especially important plantations of bananas and orchids in the area.

History

The town was founded in 1897, in 1910 a railway line was built. In Corupá settled numerous immigrants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The independent city was created in 1958 by a separation of Jaragua do Sul.

Attractions

Among the attractions of the city, the museum Seminário Sagrado Coração de Jesus and numerous waterfalls are like the waterfalls Cachoeira da Cachoeira Broaca and Braço Esquerdo.
