Coşkun Çörüz

Coşkun Çörüz ( born August 15, 1963 in Salipazari, Turkey) is a Dutch politician of Turkish origin. He is a 2001 member of the Dutch Parliament, within the Group of the CDA ( Christian Democratisch Appèl ) since 29 May. In the past, he worked in the areas of youth, education and law at the Amsterdam Center for Foreigners (ACB).

Biography

Çörüz studied at the University of Amsterdam Law and two years of business. In 1998 he became a member of the municipal council of Haarlem, and in the meantime he came in 2001 in the Second Chamber. There he engaged in the fields of youth ( including youth crime), constitutional and administrative law, human rights and international law.

In addition to his political posts Çörüz is also the Chairman of the Council of the European Minority Youth Committee and Chairman of the Foundation " Special Chair Islam" (Stichting Bijzondere Leerstoel Islam) at the University of Amsterdam. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Foundation " worldviews in dialogue" (Stichting Levensbeschouwingen in Dialoog ) and the Equal Treatment Commission ( Commissie Gelijke behandeling ), are the non-binding information on the suspected discrimination.

Since 2006, a legislative proposal Çörüz of the Second Chamber is presented. The bill aims to increase from 14 in the strict liability of parents for their children the applicable age for this to 18. On September 22, 2009 Çörüz said in De Telegraaf, the behavior of the youth in Amsterdam and Rotterdam at the end of Ramadan was outrageous, inappropriate and un-Islamic. Accordingly, it had always been the same people who constitute a nuisance and can pay for the cost of the damage in his opinion.

Personal

Çörüz lives in Haarlem, is married and has two children.
