Cosmas of Aetolia

Saint Cosmas of Aetolia (* 1714 Mega Dendron, Aetolia, † August 24 1779 in Berat ) was a Greek Orthodox monk from Mount Athos. He is in the Orthodox Church as an apostle matches.

Life

Kosmas studied Greek and theology. After a visit to Mount Athos, he became a monk and studied at the local theological school. He then traveled through the northern and western Greece to convince Orthodox Christians, to found schools. Within sixteen years, he has reached more than 100 schools were founded.
