Cosmogramma is the third album by the American musician Flying Lotus. It was released on 3 May 2010 on the label Warp Records.

Music style

On Cosmogramma Flying Lotus tries to consciously distance themselves from his previous musical and production style after it has been imitated by numerous young artists. So Flying Lotus writes his songs on Cosmogramma in a more conceptual approach with a concrete vision of the final product. The result goes beyond his previous design of beats and mixes the familiar rhythm -oriented basic elements with elements of jazz and glitch. Flying Lotus himself describes his music as " in some ways a jazz album".

Album Title

The album's title stems from the fact that Flying Lotus listened to the recording of a speech of his great-aunt Alice Coltrane in an ashram. He initially misunderstood her words "cosmic drama " ( " cosmic drama " ) as " Cosmogramma " ( interpreted as " cosmic grammar "); until much later, he found out that the word " Cosmogramma " really exists.
