Cotton wool

As absorbent cotton defatted and finely fibrous cotton is called. By degreasing it is absorbent. It is used for cleaning and upholstery in medicine and in the home.

It was first manufactured by the Tübingen surgical Professor Victor von Bruns in 1865. Was industrially manufactured since 1871 by the Swiss industrialist Henry Theophilus Baeschlin in the factory medical dressings (now IVF Hartmann). Before that lint was used.
