Council for Secular Humanism

The Council for Secular Humanism (CSH, originally the Council for Democratic and Secular Humanism ) is an American Association for the Advancement of secularization and not religious humanism and a member of the International Humanist and Ethical Union and represents the Amsterdam Declaration ( 2002). Symbol is the Happy Human. The organization is based Amherst ( New York).

History

Became famous for the statement A Secular Humanist Declaration ( 1980). The Council for Secular Humanism publishes the journal Free Inquiry. Paul Kurtz united 1991 Center for Inquiry in Amherst, together with the CSH and the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal, which he leads both. In 2006 there were headlines when, among other things, the Borders Group refused to sell the April-May issue of Free Inquiry because they wore the Mohammed cartoons, Jyllands-Posten on the front page.
