Countess Johanna Sophia of Hohenlohe-Langenburg

Sophie Countess Johanna zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg ( born December 16, 1673 Langenburg; † August 18, 1743 in Hagen ) was a German noblewoman and by marriage Countess of Schaumburg -Lippe.

Biography

Johanna Sophie was the sixth daughter of Count Heinrich Friedrich zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg and his second wife, Juliana Dorothea Countess of Castell- Remlingen. Besides her beauty she was also a clever and eager pupil.

Marriage and descendants

On January 4, 1691 Johanna Sophie married in Langenburg Count Friedrich Christian of Schaumburg -Lippe ( 1655-1728 ). Early in their marriage, she was allowed to accompany her husband on many trips, but was then left behind more often. As disagreements between Johanna Sophie and her husband broke out, she moved with her two sons to Hanover. The marriage with Friedrich Christian was divorced in 1723 and he married two years later, his mistress, Maria Anna von Gall. From this marriage the following children were born:

Later life

In Hanover, made ​​friends with the Kurprinzessin Caroline of Brandenburg- Ansbach (1683-1737), later the wife of King George II and accompanied her to the UK. In the English Court of Hanoverian London Countess acted as maid of honor.
