Coupe de France (ice hockey)

The Coupe de France is an ice hockey competition from France, who ( with the exception of the 2000/01 season ) is held annually by the French Ice Hockey Federation. Back in 1968, there has been a Coupe de France, but this competition was held only sparsely in over 30 years. Only in 2000 the competition was played again. The competition will be for the season 2006/ 07 discharged as " Trophée Pete Laliberte " in honor of the former ice hockey player Gaetan " Pete " Laliberté.

Mode

At the Coupe de France teams take the Ligue Magnus, as the Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 part. Participation in the competition is voluntary for the clubs. The teams each enter in a game against each other. If a team has already played two leagues below his opponent and has in the previous round away, his opponent must compete in the next round away unless this has also played abroad. With a draw within regular time the next round is determined by an extension and possibly a penalty shootout.

The pairings will be drawn before the first round, which compete until the last sixteen mainly teams from the same region. The final will take place annually since 2007 at the Palais Omnisports de Paris -Bercy.
