Coyrière

Coyrière is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Coyrière is located at 702 m above sea level. M., about six kilometers south-southwest of the town of Saint- Claude ( a straight line ). The farming village extends in the Jura, in the deep valley of the Tacon, between the heights of the Combe Mathieu in the west and the Hautes- Combes in the east.

The area of ​​4.11 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The western boundary runs along the Tacon that supplies its water of Bienne. That at its upper edge a maximum of two kilometers wide valley a canyon sunk into the high plateau of the Hautes- Combes and has a depth of over 500 m on the northern boundary of the municipality on. The upper valley slopes are very steep pronounced and are traversed by bands of rock ( resistant limestone layer). The municipal area extends to the edge of the plateau of the Hautes- Combes (Les Couronnes ), on 1125 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Coyrière is achieved. The area of Coyrière is part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut- Jura.

Neighboring communities of Coyrière are Villard -Saint -Sauveur in the north, the east, and Les Moussières Coiserette the south and west.

History

Since the High Middle Ages Coyrière belonged together with Coiserette to the land of the monastery of Saint -Claude. To a field change occurred in 1790, separated as Coiserette of Coyrière and was declared an independent parish. During the Second World War in 1944 Coyrière looted and burned by German troops. The rebuilt village does not have its own church.

Population

With 64 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Coyrière one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 197 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Coyrière was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially livestock and dairy farming, as well as by the forestry village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. Road connections are made via Coiserette or Villard -Saint- Sauveur Saint -Claude.
