Craterellus lutescens

Pungent trumpet chanterelle ( craterellus lutescens )

The strong smelling trumpet chanterelle, chanterelle Fragrant, Yellow crater Elle and Fragrant gift Ling ( craterellus lutescens, syn. Cantharellus aurora ) is a species of fungus in the family of chanterelle relatives ( Cantharellaceae ). What is striking is the distinct smell of Mirabelle. Because of the vivid orange-yellow stems it is also called Goldstieliger Leist Ling. Specimens without a yellow pigment are sometimes defined as a variety axanthus.

Features

The strong smelling trumpet chanterelle has a 2-6 (10 ) cm wide hat that is first convex, umbilicate later, in old age deep funnel-shaped and pierced. The brim of the hat is garter lobed, the young covered with scaly flakes, bald at the age hat surface is brown to grauschwärzlich. The hollow stem is often broadly depressed, rinnig and yellow to orange yellow ( Common name: "Gold feet" ). The rosaweißliche Hutunterseite in young specimens almost smooth, it is wrinkled with age and is then covered with shallow veins or forked longitudinal folds.

Ecology

Krieglsteiner suspects for this type of two ( or three ) Ecological Races: A race occurs in sparse, ground fresh, base-rich beech, fir, pine or spruce woods, he comes here to the forest edges and the edge of dry grassland societies. The other race is growing in contrast to extremely acidic soils between or on mosses. In addition, the fungus can also occur on weakly basic soils in spruce-fir and spruce forests. The author expresses the assumption that it is a facultative symbionts of Picea abies in this type that can live saprob on soil and moss.

Dissemination

The strong smelling trumpet chanterelle is found in Europe and North America. In Germany, the species outside of protected areas ( Moore) is in decline, apparently it is taken as strongly against nitrogen compounds sensitive nature particularly strong due to air pollutants.

Taxonomy

The epithet lutescens has been used in the past for a variety of the Trumpet Chanterelle. However, the name has now been preserved for the strong -smelling Trumpet Chanterelle.
