Creutzwald

Creutz Forest ( German Cross Forest) is a commune with 13,540 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Boulay -Moselle and the Canton Bouzonville.

Geography

The community Creutz forest whose inhabitants are called Creutzwaldois, located in Warndt, directly on the border with the Saarland; the neighboring community to Saarland page is about the Lord. Twinned Creutzwald is Dillingen / Saar.

History

Until 1961 the place was called officially Creutzwald -la- Croix. Creutzwald was the last place in France, where a coal mine was operated. The mine La Houve was closed on 23 April 2004.
