Criccieth Castle

Criccieth Castle is a medieval castle high in Criccieth, Wales.

Plant

The castle was originally Welsh and was built under Llywelyn from Iorwerth. The gatehouse with two projecting semicircular towers appears to be based on English models. In 1283 the castle was captured by Edward I of England and expanded.
