Cristo de La Laguna

The Holy Christ of La Laguna is a large crucifix, which is located in the Real Santuario del Holy Christ of La Laguna de San Cristóbal de La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain.

The image of Christ is a Gothic work from the second half of the 15th century. A very special woodcarving and a very special style make this image of the Redeemer for the Laguneros and all Canarios to be something unique. It is said that this image was taken in 1520 at the request of then- Governor Alonso Fernández de Lugo on the island of Tenerife. It should be here to make a gift to De Lugo of the Duke of Medina Sidonia people. On 9 September, each year, the statue of Christ is carried into the Cathedral of La Laguna.
