Cross (boxing)

Cross is a blow in boxing. It is a line that is hit with both the batting (which is the stronger hand ) and the guiding hand ( much rarer ) and always ( beaten or cover ) the arms of the enemy crosses (cross = cross ). The Cross is a so-called Power Punch - in contrast to the jab, a less effective straight line with the lead hand with little or no upper body rotation. It is usually a concurrently executed counter-attack which can serve as a prelude to a continuation of the attack in the half and close range. The prime example of an effective cross is that of Max Schmeling vs. Joe Louis in their first meeting defeated rights to the chin or the temple above the falling guiding hand of Louis. A cross with the guiding hand of Henry Maske was often used against Graciano Rocchigiani to break from the outside, its dual coverage.

Basic execution

The batting is led to a bolted line on the opponent 's arm from the chin to the finish. Ideally, this happens at the moment when the guide hand ( rare batting ) has just beaten the enemy. The Cross is accompanied by a Meidbewegung to the left, causing the Percussive also exposes the striking hand of the enemy. This risk is taken for the element of surprise in purchasing. At the same time shoulder to cover the batting side of the head is brought forward until it touches the chin slightly; the guiding hand is withdrawn to protect the chin. To give additional impetus to the Cross, the hip is rotated slightly and shifted the weight on the front foot. Here, a step forward take place in order to put more weight behind the blow, or when the cross is performed as a prelude to the continuation of the struggle in the half or close range. Otherwise, the punch hand is retracted quickly and taken the cover again.
