Prices Rattlesnake ( Crotalus pricei ) is a small species of rattlesnakes (Crotalus ), which is used in two subspecies in each other isolated areas in Arizona and Mexico.

Features

Prices rattlesnake is a small rattlesnake with an average body length of about 50 centimeters, which is rare sometimes to 60 inches long.

The basic color of the snake is mostly gray and can also be brown or reddish brown. The color pattern consists of paired spots on the back. These spots can centrally merge and form such a broad cross- blotches or bars. From the eye there is a dark temple strap pulls the corners of the mouth.

Distribution and habitat

Prices rattlesnake is common in two subspecies in each other isolated areas in Arizona and Mexico. This is the very narrow and small area where C. p. miquihuanus is to be found in the eastern Sierra Madre. The nominate C. p. pricei found, however, in an elongated distribution area of Arizona in the United States of America to the western Sierra Madre. Both populations are separated by hundreds of kilometers wide spread gap.

As habitat preferred the snake rocky pine - oak mixed forests facing south at altitudes of 2,000 to 3,000 meters. In addition, however, they are also found in other habitats at a comparable level stage.

Snake venom

No specific effects and ingredients of the poison of this snake are unknown. It produces only small quantities of toxins that are likely to be relatively mild in its effects.
