Crutch

Walker is the generic term for all tools which are used for the relief of joints and mobility for professionals.

Among the walkers are as such by the statutory health insurance (SHI ) recognized aids in the context of rehabilitation, where there are many different walking aids for different degrees of mobility problems. Also among the walkers are the other reasons ( eg, general relief, exercise, social signal ) in a form of walking aids (eg walk or hike ) used.

Short descriptions

  • Mehrfußgehhilfen ( three-point, four-point, Fünfpunktgehstützen ) have a shell like walking sticks, but three to five splayed single contact points.
  • Walking frames Walking frames are light or cradles with four riot points on the ground. They are raised slightly with every step and set up by one step forward again.
  • Walker are, in principle, go-carts with wheels that do not need to be raised when walking. They are usually used indoors. The walker can be provided to allow the use even with a reduced gripping ability as required with specially -made orthopedic armrests.
  • As Rollators Rollators are designated for outdoor use and for the road. Rollators are more robust and equipped with larger wheels than walker, who are also brakes, partly also the seat cushions and backrests. Similar to the walker are delta Gehräder or tricycle Gehräder, but there are contexts, however, with riot points in triangular form less stable, more flexible.
  • Walking aids for children are produced as forearm crutches with a correspondingly lower amount. To promote the acceptance by the young patients, these crutches are designed often very colorful.

Standardize

  • The European standard EN ISO 11199 defines crutches for beidarmige handling and requirements and test methods.
  • For Germany, this standard is issued as DIN EN ISO 11199.

Without walking aids walking difficulties

Walking aids for people without mobility problems can be distinguished according to the purpose of their use (eg, cane or walking stick ) and according to its nature - material, production method, execution of individual individual features, inter alia, - (eg Bengalas de Gestaçô, Derby floor, Fritz floor, knotty stick, telescopic pole, Ziegenhainer ). When distinguishing between (classification) features can also come into play (eg when mountain stick or a number of other walking aids ) both in terms of its purpose and in terms of texture.
