CSP UM Timișoara

UMT Timisoara was a Romanian football club based in Timişoara, Timiş county. He played in the 2001/ 02 season in the top Romanian football league, the Divizia A, and stood in the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup in 1999.

History

UMT Timisoara was founded in 1960 as a football club of the engineering company Uzinele mecanice Timişoara. The club first played in the regional leagues of the circle Timiş before him in 1967 for the first time, the rise in the third Romanian football league that Divizia C (now League III) succeeded. UMT already counted in the first season of the top teams in the league and managed in 1970 the rise again. One step higher - in Divizia B (now League II) - could not keep the club and rose a year later again.

It took only two years before UMT returned again in the Divizia B: After 1972, the resurgence was just missed, the club benefited in 1973 from the fact that the Divizia B from two to three seasons has been extended. In the Divizia B UMT competed in the Season III, which covered the west of the country. The first season ended the club in third place, the subsequent seasons in the secure midfield. In the season 1980/81 UMT slipped for the first time in the relegation zone and placed in the following year again in midfield, before the club again had to join the in the Divizia C in 1983.

In the first season after relegation to UMT was indeed a second place behind Up Mureşul Deva, but escaped with a two-point lead barely escape relegation. In the following two years, the club ended up in the secure midfield before he had to fight to avoid relegation in both the 1986/87 season and 1987/88 until the final day. From 1988, the development of UMT went back upstairs. After two fourth places, the club managed in 1991 again promoted to the Divizia B, but were relegated after one season.

After the descent, the association initially found in a relegation battle Divizia C again. It was not until the 1994/95 season he finished in midfield and oriented upwards. In 1997, the resurgence, which again was followed by the immediate descent succeeded. The 1998/99 season was the most successful in the club's history to date. In addition to the renewed rise in the Divizia B UMT reached after victories against Astra Ploiesti and Bucharest Naţional the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup, where the club against Dinamo Bucharest eliminated.

In the Divizia B to UMT was able to place in the 1999/2000 season in midfield, before the club in 2001 for the first time, the rise in the first Romanian League, the Divizia A (now Liga I ), succeeded. However, the 2001/02 season the club finished well behind in last place and was relegated again. The 2002/03 season came to disaster. Due to financial problems, the club could not compete for two games and was excluded after the 12th matchday of the championship.

Due to the events of the previous season started UMT with the mortgage of the deduction of 19 points in the 2003/04 season Divizia C and finished the season with a mid-table. In the following two seasons, the club scraped effort at resurgence. According to a ninth place in the 2006 / 07 season, he was relegated in 2008 from the now renamed League III game class.
