Cuauhtémoc, D.F.

The Delegación Cuauhtémoc, named after the former Aztec emperor, is one of 16 districts ( delegaciones ) of the Mexican capital Mexico City.

Cuauhtémoc is the district in which the old town with the Zócalo, the Presidential Palace and the Cathedral is just like the Zona Rosa and the archaeological zones of the Templo Mayor and Tlatelolco. Due to the abundance of its historically significant sights Cuauhtémoc is the most visited by foreign tourists District of Mexico City.

In addition, the district is also in economic terms of importance; because in the northeastern section of the Paseo de la Reforma, which also belongs to the Delegación Cuauhtémoc, a number of banks and companies also have their headquarters as the only securities exchange in the country. The Torre Mayor, the tallest building in Latin America, is located in this section.

The well-known for its high crime rate Tepito neighborhood north of the historic center is also located in the Delegación Cuauhtémoc.
