The Estadio Cuauhtémoc is a football stadium in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, which is characterized by a peculiar construction. It consists of a fully enclosed lower tier and two patch, high bleachers that run on both sides along the side lines of the court.
The Estadio Cuauhtémoc was the venue of three group matches of the Football World Cup 1970 and a total of five matches of the Football World Cup 1986, including the play-off for third place. The only teams that completed games here at two World Championships staged in Mexico, were Uruguay and Italy. In everyday life, the Mexican football league, the stadium serves as the home ground of FC Puebla.
His name did not get the stadium about as reminiscent of the last Aztec emperor, Cuauhtémoc - Moctezuma but because the brewery had once taken a large share of financing costs and could secure the stadium in return for the naming rights.
World Cup 1970
The Estadio Cuauhtémoc was one of five stadiums where the World Cup games were held in 1970. However, found here with just three games the fewest games instead. Also in the 1986 World Cup, the Estadio Cuauhtémoc was now one of 12 stadiums where the total of 52 games have been completed.
