Cubrial

Cubrial is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Cubrial situated at an altitude of 280 m above sea level, 7 km south-southwest of Villers Exel and about 30 km west of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the hills between the lowlands of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, in the valley of the Ruisseau de l' Etang.

The area of ​​5.92 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the hills south of the Ognontals. The central part of the area is traversed in an east-west direction from the wide valley of the Ruisseau de l' Etang, which provides for drainage to Ognon. Flanked the valley of partially wooded, lined partly with arable and meadow land hills: the south are the Bois des Vignottes and the heights at the Château de Bournel, north of the Reuillard, on the 356 m the highest elevation reached by Cubrial. Further north, close to the vast forest area Bois derrière la Côte, which leads on to the valley of Ognon.

To Cubrial the district of Les Faubourgs part (280 m ) west to the place then in the valley of the Ruisseau de l' Etang. Neighboring communities of Cubrial are Pont -sur- l'Ognon in the north, Cubry in the east, Nans and Cuse -et- Adrisans in the south and Rougemont in the West.

History

Since the Middle Ages Cubrial belonged to the noble family of Nan, which was under the rule of Rougemont. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Until the construction of the village church mid-19th century Cubrial belonged to the parish Cuse. Today Cubrial is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes du Pays de Rougemont.

Attractions

The village church of Cubrial was built in 1842. It has one of the oldest bells in the Franche -Comté with a Gothic inscription of 1540. Also on village square is the parish hall ( Mairie ) and the former rectory, which together form a beautiful ensemble from the 19th century.

Population

With 137 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Cubrial is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 301 persons were still counted ), small fluctuations were recorded since then only.

Economy and infrastructure

Cubrial was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a sawmill. Meanwhile, the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D50, which runs from Baume- les -Dames to Villers Exel. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 17 km. Further road links exist with Cubry and Pont -sur- l'Ognon.
