Cusa is an impact crater on the northeastern edge of the moon 's front panel. It lies immediately south of the crater Petermann. The terraced walls are slightly eroded on the eastern edge is defined by two smaller craters a notch in the Wall arose. The crater interior is flat with no central peak.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German mathematician and philosopher Nicholas of Cusa. Was introduced in the name of Johann Friedrich Julius Schmidt.
