History

The label was founded in 2003 by Linda Perry. Looking for potential artists Perry went to Austin, Texas for the annual South by Southwest festival. There she was one of about 15 listeners of a concert that gave the then unknown British singer James Blunt on the 18th floor of the Crowne Plaza hotel. Perry offered to Blunt to take him with her label. At this time, no artist was at Custard Records. Blunt signed and in October 2004 the label with James Blunt Back to Bedlam released the first album, which is then sold worldwide over 14 million times.

Also in 2003, followed by the Czech post-punk band Sunshine, in January 2005, the EP Electric! Kill! Kill! published. Published in 2005, Linda Perry her own solo debut, In Flight from 1996, again under their own label. That same year, Perry takes the American singer Sierra Swan under contract. Published in 2006 with Swan Custard Records released her first solo album Ladyland. Hit Quarters, an Internet portal for A & Rs, led Custard Records 2006 to 6th of the major record labels.
