Cymadothea trifolii
Cymadothea trifolii is a fungal species from the order of Rußtaupilzartigen ( Capnodiales ). The species is common, especially in humid summers.
Features
On the bottom of clover leaves to black spots form with a diameter of 1 mm, which merge more or less strongly with each other. On the spots can be found on corkscrew spiral beams conidia. They are two-celled and measure 20-24 x 9-12 microns. Pseudothecia formed after wintering on dead leaves.
Importance
Cymadothea trifolii is the causative agent of clover blackness. The infected by this fungus clover is toxic to livestock.
