Cynology

The Kynologie ( gr κύον kyon " dog" and -logy ) is the science of breeds, breeding, care, behavior, education, and disease of domestic dogs.

Generally

Cynologist is not a protected occupational title. There is no chair for Kynologie, but since October 2010, a university course Applied Kynologie at the Veterinary University of Vienna. In addition, there are scientists with cynologic focus as Dorit Feddersen -Petersen and Hans Joachim Hackbarth.

There are foundations to finance cynologic research such as the Albert-Heim -Stiftung at the Natural History Museum of Bern and the Society for the Promotion Canine Enthusiast research.

More recently, can be found as an alternative name for the run in the university setting Kynologie also the English term of Canine Science (Eng. dog science or science of the dog ).
