The Academy of Arts Cyprus (Greek Κυπριακό Κολέγιο Τέχνης, Turkish Sanat Kıbrıs Koleji ) is an art high school on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. There are two locations, in Larnaca and the building of the campus in the village of Lempa near Paphos. Language of instruction is English. Almost all of the programs that are taught at the academy, with the curriculum of British art training and are recognized in the UK.

History

The Cyprus Academy of Arts was founded in 1969 by the Cypriot artist Stass Paraskos, and is the oldest educational institution in the field of arts in Cyprus. The Academy was originally located in the city of Famagusta, but after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, she was forced to move to the town of Paphos. There they remained until 1985, when the Cypriot Minister of Education and Culture, the use of a former school building in the village of Lempa, four kilometers north of Paphos assured.

The first program that was offered by the Academy, was the " Cyprus Summer School ", today the so-called " Cyprus Summer Studio ", a holiday course. This was announced by British and other European art students the opportunity to deal some time in Cyprus with art. The beginning of 1978 led the Academy, the Graduate Program of Fine Arts a, now known as MA Fine Art.

In 2002, the Academy received additional land in the town of Limassol and used this as an opportunity to introduce some new fine arts programs. These include the basic study of the visual arts, adult education and studies in painting, sculpture, photography and artistic printing process. In 2007, the former university site in Limassol was closed and classes are held ever since in a building in the old town of Larnaca, near the St. Lazarus Church, instead. 2010 founded the Academy, the Cornaro Institute, named after the last Venetian Queen of Cyprus Caterina Cornaro. According to plan, the Cornaro Institute in 2011 to take over the college in Larnaca.
