Cyprus–Germany relations

Germany and Cyprus entertained since August 20, 1960 diplomatic relations. Thus, the Federal Republic was the fifth country entered into the dialog box after the declaration of independence of Cyprus, dated 16 August 1960. Both countries are members of the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Union, the euro zone and the Schengen area (but can not get the border checks prior to settlement of the Cyprus conflict ).

Germany operates an embassy in Nicosia, an honorary consul is active in Limassol. The German mission abroad was opened as a consulate on April 12, 1955, and conducted from 20 August 1960 by Ambassador Joseph Koenig. Cyprus has an embassy in Berlin and a Consulate General in Hamburg. Honorary consuls are active in Bonn, Frankfurt and Munich.
