Czechoslovak People's Army

The Czechoslovak People's Army Czech Československé Lidová armáda, Slovak Česko - Slovenská Ludova armáda ( ČSLA ) was the army of Czechoslovakia in the period from 1954 until 1990. Since 1955 she was a member of the Warsaw Pact. The army was divided into Army, Air Force and Air Defence Forces defensive.

History

It was created in 1954 by renaming the 1918 founded the Czechoslovak Army in 1990 changed its name back to the Czechoslovak Army and was divided in 1993 into the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and the armed forces of the Slovak Republic.

Structure

The forces were divided into two military districts. The Western Military District ( HQ Tábor ) had two armies, the 1st Army in Pribram with one tank division and three motorized rifle divisions, and the 4th army in Pisek with two tank divisions and motorized rifle divisions. In the Eastern Military District ( Trenčín ) were two armored divisions T -55. In addition, the Czechoslovak People's Army had the 22nd Airborne Regiment ( Kroměříž ).

All the troops of the Central Group of Soviet Forces were assigned to ( HQ Milovice nad Labem ).
