D'Arcy Corrigan

D' Arcy Corrigan ( born January 2, 1870 in County Cork, Ireland, † December 25, 1945 in Los Angeles, California ) was an Irish actor.

Life and career

D' Arcy Corrigan worked as a lawyer and worked among other things as a secretary to a Member of Parliament. Only in an advanced age he became an actor and worked among others at a Stock Company. At the age of 55 years he gave in 1925 in Hollywood, his film debut. With its very distinctive, wrinkled face Corrigan got mostly small, but very memorable film appearances. He mostly played quirky, or pitiful melanchonische figures in all genres. Corrigan embodied inter alia, a morgue supervisor in Murders in the Rue Morgue, a blind man in The Traitor and the spirit of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol. In 1939, he drew largely from out of the film business.

Especially in Corrigan's later career years were many of his 55 film appearances without mention in the credits, including classics such as Bringing Up Baby as a professor LaTouche that occurs only in the first scene of the film. D' Arcy Corrigan died Christmas 1945 nine days before his 76th birthday of a heart attack.
