D'Gary

D' Gary ( Ernest Randrianasolo, born October 22, 1961 in Antananarivo ) is a Malagasy guitarist.

The son of a policeman from the ethnic group of the Bara played as a child on the guitar of an older brother. He came with his father in 1969 to Tulear and later to Betroka where he experienced caused by soil erosion and cattle thieves need of pastoral people of Bara and after the death of his father in 1978 as a guitarist for weddings and funerals had to help support the family.

In 1979, he returned with a music group from Betroka to Antananarivo, where he worked as a sideman in the coming years. 1986-87 gave him the studio owner Dida to develop in his studio his own style. On the occasion of one of the radio producer ( and later Minister of Culture ) Tsilavina AIDS exhibition was organized for the label Discomad his first cassette Alatsao Balansy, appeared in 1992 from the five tracks under the name Garry on the album Musiques de Madagascar.

1991 D' Gary learned by the Malagasy music star Dama Mahaleo American musician Henry Kaiser and David Lindley know. They took a track of him in the album A World Out of Time on, and the emperor brought his album Malagasy Guitar Music From Madagascar to the market.

1993 D' Gary stepped beside his colleagues Dama and Rossy at the Festival International in Lafayette / Louisiana. With Dama and two musicians from the band of Rossy he took there on the studio album, A Long Way Home. In 1994 he joined as a member of the Malagasy Allstars at the House of World Cultures in Berlin. More albums created with his band Jihe. More recently, he has also worked with the Indian tabla player Nantha Kumar.
