D. Emmert Brumbaugh

David Emmert Brumbaugh ( born October 8, 1894 in Martinsburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania, † April 22, 1977 in Claysburg, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1943 and 1947 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Emmert Brumbaugh attended the public schools in North Woodbury and then the Summer Normal School in Martinsburg. He then studied at the International Correspondence School in Scranton. In 1914 he began to work in Claysburg in the banking industry. During the First World War, he served from 1918 to 1919 as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Since 1921 he worked in the timber industry. He later founded an insurance agency. From 1939 to 1943 he was curator of the Pennsylvania Industrial School in Huntingdon. He became a member of the Republican Party.

Following the resignation of Mr James E. Van Zandt Brumbaugh was at the due election for the 23 seats of Pennsylvania as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on November 2, 1943. After a re-election in the 22nd electoral district of his state he could remain until January 3, 1947 in Congress. This period was marked by the events of the Second World War and its consequences. In 1946 he gave up another candidacy.

Between 1947 and 1951 Brumbaugh bank officer was ( Secretary of Banking of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ) of his home state. After that he was still in the banking industry operates. He became president of the First National Bank of Claysburg. Between 1963 and 1967 he was a member of the Senate of Pennsylvania. Emmert Brumbaugh died on April 22, 1977 in Claysburg, and was buried in his birthplace of Martinsburg.
