The Drzavna cesta D1 ( Croatian for, D1 National Road ') is according to the D8 with a length of 426 km, the second longest Croatian National Road and leads from the Croatian-Slovenian border at Macelj about Krapina, Zaprešić, Zagreb, Karlovac, Slunj, Plitvice Lakes, Udbina, Gračac, Knin and Sinj to Split on the Adriatic Sea. It provides thus after the motorway A1 represents the main north -south of the country

Route

The route runs between Macelj and Split. It leads through the Krapina, Zaprešić, Zagreb, Karlovac, Slunj, Plitvice Jezera, Udbina, Gračac, Knin and Sinj.

History

Younger development

Since 2004, the section between Macelj and Krapina has been postponed because the new A2 motorway is on the route of the D1. Thus, the new D1 was placed next to the highway and crossed these with several bridges.

The section between Sinj and Split on Dugopolje (motorway junction A1) be expanded to four lanes at present.
