Description

The already completed in much of route will connect together with the German A 17 the cities of Dresden and Prague after its completion. The route is part of Corridor IV from Berlin to Istanbul. In official publications the connection Prague -Dresden is also called the Via Porta Bohemica (Street of Bohemian gate).

History

The 45- km long section between Prague and Lovosice ( Lobositz ) Východ (East) was taken in sections between 1990 and 2000 in operation; on it also passes the European route 55 The 23.4 km long stretch of Trmice ( Türmitz ) near Ústí nad Labem ( Usti nad Labem ) for the Czech-German border with connection to the A17 to Dresden was released on 21 December 2006 for the transport.

Since the section between Trmice ( Türmitz ) and Řehlovice ( Großtschochau ) nad Labem (E 442 R 63 ) was completed in 1988 as expressway Teplice Usti, missing for a continuous motorway link Dresden- Prague only the 16.4 km long section of Lovosice - Východ after Řehlovice. The construction of this line was delayed because the route cuts through a valuable nature reserve in the Bohemian Uplands and unwilling stood funds for the construction of a long tunnel.

In April 2007, the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic has rejected a substantial opposition from citizens' initiatives against the section of the nature reserve Central Mountains, whereas no contradiction was possible. This could submit the application for planning permission for the controversial section kraj at the district administration authority of the Ústí nad Labem, the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate of Highways. First, it was not possible to acquire all the land needed for the track alignment.

In October 2007, construction of the penultimate section of Lovosice -západ to Bílinka, which should be open in 2011, began. However, the technical documentation for the sound insulation bridge at Vchynicko deviated from the actual construction, so that a new planning permission had to be obtained and could not be opened to the already completed section. On 14 May 2012, the section was opened to traffic.

According to a judgment of the District Court Ústí nad Labem from the year 2012, all authorizations for the construction of D8 were illegal because the population was not consulted. In addition, the opposition of environmentalists Deti Země was dismissed on 20 April 2012. After this decision was not challenged within the 14- day period is 2012 construction law since May 7. The authorized official in Ústí Jiri Sulc explained that the ausständige of distances of 11 km, can be completed within 30 months, as tunnels and bridges were completed. Thus, the remaining portion would be commissioned in December 2014 fully operational. On 25 July 2012, the district court overturned in Usti nad Labem, a decision of the District Office to build the D8 towards the German border. Then the construction work was temporarily stopped on July 27, 2012. On August 15, 2012, the District Office in Ústí nad Labem leaned again from the appeal of an environmental association to the route of the D8. The work was resumed on 31 August 2012. However, a landslide on June 7, 2013 spilled already commenced route, so that the completion will be delayed further. In addition, a tunnel was brought as an alternative solution to the game again.

Toll

On the Dálnice 8 consists in the Czech Republic from the German border motorway toll sticker. However, the Czech vignettes were initially only ten kilometers after the border crossing at the gas station available, which led to vociferous criticism. Since February 2007, the vignettes are available at any ADAC office, at various border German motorway service areas, as well as just before the border to a 24-hour point of sale on a highway parking. Thus, the entry with a valid vignette is already possible. As of June 2012, the toll for the direction of Prague was enacted only after the tank resting place Varvažov by traffic signs.

Construction costs

The Court of Auditors of the Czech Republic ( Nejvyšší kontrolní urad, NKU ) criticized the Czech Ministry of Transport in Prague because of serious excess of the cost of construction at sections of the D8 motorway. Due to poor planning about the cost of the section Trmice - border D -CZ from the original 1.1 billion euro had risen to 1.5 billion euros, says the NKU report for 2006. Increases by 33 % as in the above case were " alarming", criticized the supervisory authority.
