DÄ…browa Tarnowska

Dąbrowa Tarnovska [ dɔmbrɔva tarnɔfska ] is a city in the powiat Dabrowski in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland. It is the seat of the powiat Dabrowski and the same urban and rural municipality ( gmina miejsko - wiejska ).

Geography

Dąbrowa Tarnovska is located about 20 kilometers north of Tarnów river Bren in the Sandomierz Basin.

History

According to the latest findings, the first written mention of a settlement on the territory of today Dąbrowa Tarnovska not from 1326 but from the year 1422. During the period between 1691 bis1693 Dąbrowa Tarnovska received its town charter. A detailed specification is not possible because no certificate of this act more exiestiert. 1772, the city came in the First Partition of Poland to Austria. 1773, the city became the seat of a district. This contained the much greater Tarnów this was then changed in 1775 with a reorganization and Dąbrowa Tarnovska was part of Tarnów district. After a further reform of the city was the seat of a district in 1855 this was changed again in 1867 and the city was seat of the new county. The connection to the rail network Szczucin - Tarnów was 1906. September 8, 1939, the city was occupied by German troops. In July 1942, a Jewish ghetto was established in the city. In about 2000 the Jews was, they were later taken to the extermination camp Belzec. On 17 January 1945 the Red Army reached the city. 1939 lived 6117 people in the city, 1945, 4520 there.

From 1975 - 1998 the village belonged to the Tarnów Voivodeship.

The municipality has a surface area of 113 km ². 75 % of its territory is used for agriculture, 15 % is covered by forest.

For urban and rural municipality ( gmina miejsko - wiejska ) include the 12 Sołectwa ( Soltysships ): Brnik, Gruszów Wielki, Gruszów Maly, Laskówka Chorąska, Lipiny, Morzychna, Nieczajna Dolna, Nieczajna Gorna, Smęgorzów, Sutków, Szarwark, Żelazówka.
