Dagmar Hase

Dagmar Hase ( born December 22, 1969 in Quedlinburg ) is a German former swimmer and Olympic champion.

Career

At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona Dagmar Hase beat over 400 meters freestyle, the defending champion and top favorite Janet Evans from the USA.

At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta occupied hare over the same distance to second place. Two more silver medals won hare in the 800 meters freestyle and the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay. In addition, she won the 200m freestyle bronze medal.

The terms of her Olympic medals far more successful, but set-back in its reputation behind swimmers as Franziska van Almsick or Sandra peoples hare excited only by a television interview a stir, in which she denounced the unfair treatment of their swimming colleague and friend Astrid Strauss by German sports officials.

1994 saw Dagmar Hase again making headlines, as they start their course on the 200-meter freestyle distance to their team - mate Franziska van Almsick ceded at the World Swimming Championships in Rome. The Berliner, started as a German gold medal hope on this route had missed the ninth- best time, one place behind Hare, the final. So van Almsick but could still start and won the gold medal with a new world record time. Rabbit, however, was a tragic figure, as they also took a ninth place on the 400 - meter freestyle. The qualified in eighth place teammate Jana Henke renounced not in favor of Olympic champion rabbit, took her right to start self-aware and finished sixth. In recognition of her selfless attitude got Dagmar Hase from the sponsor of the German Swimming Federation paid a holiday trip.

GDR doping

As with many other former East German top swimmers, for example, Kristin Otto, Heike Friedrich, Sylvia Gerasch or Daniela Hunger, was also at Dagmar Hase in connection with the 1998 taking place doping case against the former East German coach Dieter Lindemann and Volker Frischke with the accusation of systematic doping 1982-1988, accusations of use of illegal performance-enhancing substances and the successes achieved thus unlawfully loud.

In concrete terms, it was announced after the reunification that besides Kristin Otto, Heike Friedrich and Daniela hunger and Hare at the European Swimming Championships in 1989 has taken illegal performance-enhancing substances in Bonn. The testosterone content of the women corresponded to that of a normal man and was well above the normal female value. Dagmar Hase has these allegations, however, decided back:

Resignation

Dagmar Hase came back in 1998 from active swimming. Today she is young trainer at SC Magdeburg, for which she launched earlier.
