Daktyla

Daktyla (Greek Δάκτυλα ) or Dachtyla (Greek Δάχτυλα ) are called mixed loaves of sourdough. They are originally from Greece, but are also popular in Turkey and Cyprus.

Etymology

The name translated means finger and plays on the long, narrow shape of the loaves at.

Ingredients

The dough consists of wheat sourdough, wherein a so-called country traditionally flour is used which is composed of different parts of wheat flour and maize flour.

Before baking, the dough is placed in an elongated, segmented form and sprinkled with sesame seeds and black cumin.

Sometimes several oblong shaped pastry rolls are placed together and then fried to a large, easily divisible bread.
