Dale Messick

Dale Messick (actually: Dalia Messick, born April 11, 1906 in South Bend, Indiana, USA, † April 5, 2005 in Sonoma County, California, United States) was an American comic artist.

She studied first at the Ray Commercial Art School in Chicago, the study broke off but to be illustrator. First, she worked for a company that produced greeting cards, left the company but when she was reduced during the world economic crisis of the wage. She went to New York and worked in a different greeting card company and drew comics in their spare time. She changed her name from Dalia to Dale, as women in their time were still hard as a comic artist and drawings of " Dale " were more respected by publishers.

Messick became famous in 1940 published the comic series " Brenda Starr".
