Dalton is a city in Whitfield County in the U.S. state of Georgia. For the growth of the city, the construction of the Western and Atlantic Railroad was of great importance because, among other things, a railroad depot was established.

History

The city played during the Atlanta campaign, May-September 1864 greater role, since Joseph E. Johnston began the Tennessee Confederate Army at the beginning of the campaign against the armies of William T. Sherman. The Battle of Rocky Face Ridge was held until May 13 from May 7.
